I think this song is written for two friends who are together going to consume some Psychedelic drug, maybe DMT or LSD. And one of the two friends is I believe is already an experienced user and is acting a trip-sitter for the other one who seemed to be newly introduced to the substance.
Because psychedelics take you to "another state of consciousness", you feel extremely loved and want to love everyone. On DMT, you realize that love is what driving this universe.
This is why "show me love" till "I'm up off the floor". This is exactly the experience DMT gives you. You're up off the floor and traverse into the universe and possibly see gods and feel the ultimate love.
Some lines are hard to interpret, but an overall glance at the lyrics do point that the whole song is talking about a really terrific psychedelic experience.

You can get the hints when the lyrics say that it was an accident, but not of the kind where sirens sound. Psychedelics are really profound experience for a first time users and in many cases, people have said that the experience has changed their lives. Also it talks about "Random acts of mindlessness". I don't think it can be more clear as to what it is talking about.

In other verse, the trip-sitter is asking his partner as to how he feels when he said, "Tell me how you've never felt, delicate or innocent? Do you still have doubts that us having faith makes any sense?" Many atheists who have been exposed to DMT have stopped being atheist and do believe in a higher power. That's why in the verse, their faith makes more sense now.

"Like a game of pickup sticks, played by fu**ing lunatics". You see, pickup sticks is a very thoughtful game and requires utmost concentration. When you're on substance and you start playing the game, you look like a lunatic because you're under the substance influence. You have no idea what you're doing.
