The song is about him trying to cope with the loss of his partner who he deeply loves. It’s evident that he’s struggling and the only way he knows how to attempt to distract himself is “to get out of his head” whether that means alcohol or substance abuse. He talks about being able to sleep with anyone he wants but anytime someone gets close to him, the only person he can think about is the person he lost. Despite the fact they’ve been gone for 16 weeks and he’s still struggling as if it happened yesterday, shows just how heartbroken he is and is trying to convince himself that he’ll be okay, even if he doesn’t believe it.
